Music City Sandwich Co. is heading to 4000 B Gallatin Pike, a spot formerly home to Shotgun Willie’s BBQ. The sandwich shop will serve East Tennessee-style steamed sandwiches.

Owner Jason Eskridge said he decided to open the sandwich shop because after he moved from East Tennessee to Nashville, he struggled to find steamed sandwiches made the way he remembered.

“I’m from East Tennessee. I grew up not far from Knoxville,” Eskridge told What Now Nashville. “And I grew up eating these sandwiches. Being here in Nashville for 25 years, every time I go home I’ll get one of those sandwiches. But here in Nashville, there’s just not a place to find them. So I decided to fill that void.”

Customers can expect steamed hoagie sandwiches in a build-your-own sandwich format. When customers walk in, they will fill out what bread, meat, veggies and sauces they want on their sandwich.

“You’ll bring that up to the front and we’ll make you an amazing sandwich,” Eskridge said.

Eskridge does not have an exact opening date in mind, though he promises he and the team are “racing toward it.”

“At this point, I’m just saying we’re going to be open when we get open,” Eskridge said.

However, Music City Sandwich Co. is expected to open later this year.
