The Locker Room is heading to 2203 Buchanan St. this spring to bring a new community hub to North Nashville.
Nashville natives Lakesha Welch and rapper Young Buck are bringing the new sports bar to the community, with plans for multiple TVs for sports viewing, as well as live entertainment events like music, comedy and spoken word.
Inspired by the show “Cheers,” Welch told What Now Nashville that she hopes to build a strong community around The Locker Room.
“When I decided I wanted to do a new business in the area, I thought: Why not bring something to the community where it is community? Meaning you can come in — all walks of life — and frequent [The Locker Room] often,” Welch said. “We want to be able to share experiences with each other.”
Customers can expect bar foods like fish, wings, flatbreads and appetizers like fried pickles. Occasionally, Welch hope to offer more gourmet meals for people to enjoy.
Welch said they are still waiting on final approvals and permits, so she does not have exact opening date. However, they are targeting an April opening.
For Welch, the concept is about providing a place for people to socialize, enjoy entertainment and share experiences together in a fun, casual environment. As Nashville natives, the project is close to both Welch and Young Buck’s hearts.
“To witness what Nashville was then and to see what it’s evolving into now is amazing,” Welch said. “To be a part of that, it excites us — to be part of the change.”
