Forced to relocate due to its building being demolished, Kotobuki is planning to return to the East Village after a nearly three-year absence. According to a filing with Community Board 3, Kotobuki is seeking a full liquor license for 8 Stuyvesant St. An opening date has not been announced, and What Now New York has reached out for more information.

In November 2023, Kotobuki announced on its official Instagram page that it would be halting dine-in services in the East Village due to the planned demolition of its building at 56 3rd Ave. Delivery services were set to continue as the owners attempted to finalize a new location. Kotobuki currently has three locations on Long Island, in Roslyn, Hauppauge, and Babylon. The restaurants get high marks for their classic and modern takes on sushi.
