According to the Barnes & Noble official website, a new location of the bookstore chain is coming to 181 Ave. A in the East Village. The new store will be located in an 11,600-square-foot retail space on the ground floor of the Steiner East Village multi-use building. While residents began moving into the building in 2018, the retail space has remained unoccupied. According to reports, renovations on the space are currently underway. An opening date has not been announced, and What Now New York has reached out for more information.
In December 2025, USA Today reported that Barnes & Noble was planning to open 60 new stores across the United States. What Now Los Angeles recently reported on one of those new locations coming to Ontario Mills, Calif.
