Riding the current Y2K fashion revival that has Gen Z obsessed, Garage is currently in expansion mode, and one of the newest stores will be in a prime location in the Flatiron District at 160 5th St. It will be located on the ground floor of a historic nine-story building owned by RFR Holdings. The previous tenant in the space was Club Monaco. An opening date has not been announced, and What Now New York has reached out for more information.
Garage is owned by Canada-based Groupe Dynamite, which went public in 2024. The clothing brand is known for its retro, post-grunge aesthetic that has become popular on Pinterest and TikTok. According to Business of Fashion, the company has a highly efficient supply chain that can shepherd new products from design to the sales floor in less than eight weeks. Garage stores go into each season with about half the inventory they need, and order the rest of that season’s inventory based on buying trends.
