A family-owned Italian restaurant in Kilgore, Texas, has permanently closed its doors. After 41 years in business, Mazzio’s Pizza and Wings served its final meal on Friday, July 3. The restaurant team shared the closure news on Facebook.
Mazzio’s Pizza and Wings Announces Closure After 41 Years
Mazzio’s Pizza was founded by Ken Selby, who opened a small restaurant called The Pizza Parlor in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The concept later expanded into the Mazzio’s brand, which now operates locations across multiple states.
The restaurant served pizza, wings, and other Italian-American favorites for more than four decades, becoming a familiar gathering spot for local diners.
The Mazzio’s Pizza and Wings restaurant located at 1704 US-259 BUS in Kilgore, TX, shared the closure announcement on Facebook.
The restaurant team wrote, “Serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of our lives. While our ovens will soon go cold, the memories we’ve made together will stay with us forever. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives for the past 41 years.”
The restaurant did not provide a reason for the closure.
Customers React on Social Media
Following the closure announcement, several loyal customers expressed their disappointment on social media. Customers shared memories and messages of support in the comments. One of the customers wrote, “We have so many memories here! Such a staple of Kilgore.”
In its post on July 4, the restaurant shared a photo of its employees as its last post. The message concluded, “The restaurant may be closing, but the memories we’ve shared will last a lifetime.”
The closure marks the end of a restaurant that served the Kilgore community for more than four decades.
