Hot Cookie is heading south for its first expansion outside of San Francisco. According to E Bar, the business has acquired an ice cream and fro-yo shop in downtown Palm Springs at 155 South Palm Canyon Drive and will rebrand by the fall.
The iconic dessert shop took over running Jus Chillin’ and plans to operate that business until August, co-owner Ryan Jones told What Now OC. Then, Hot Cookie will make the necessary changes to transform the space for its cookie operations.
“We will bring most of our current cookie menu to Palm Springs and incorporate aspects of ice cream from the current shop, given the hotter climate,” Jones said.
Started in 1997 in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood, the company is known for its racy-named cookies and cheeky culture. It has since opened a second location in the Polk Gulch neighborhood of the city, PS Tribute reports.
This new location, just steps from Palm Springs’ vibrant LGBTQ+ nightlife, is the perfect fit for the brand. A press release says the opening celebration will coincide with Palm Springs Pride weekend, October 31 through November 2.
