Kalura Trattoria, a longtime staple of the Palm Springs dining scene, has reached a settlement with the city regarding a nearby construction project that will affect its patio space. The town will pay for the eatery – located at 124 S Palm Canyon Dr. — to have its outdoor dining area relocated, according to IE Business Daily.
An issue arose when The Palm Springs Fire Department declared that an easement needed to be widened to allow access to the adjacent Plaza Theatre, which is undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation. The owners of Kalura Trattoria objected, citing that it would negatively impact their al fresco dining, KESQ reports.
However, a settlement was recently reached; the city will grant the restaurant $500,000 for the “loss of goodwill” and to build a new 60-seat patio. It is unclear when the construction will take place, and the company did not return a request for comment before publication.
Open Table shows that Kalura Trattoria serves an authentic Italian menu with hand-crafted pizzas and traditional pasta dishes, antipasti, salads, and homemade risottos. To complement meals, there is a selection of wines, cocktails, and beers.
