The Israeli-inspired homemade pastry concept Ugah’s Bakery may soon join Newport Beach. A plan review from the Orange County Health Care Agency suggests the home business may open at 349 Old Newport Blvd.

Pastry chef Tal Rubin Hovav is behind the bakery’s thoughtfully curated selection of home-baked goods, bringing a refined approach to traditional recipes. The menu is expected to feature items such as Hanukkah Sufganiyot, often referred to as Israeli doughnuts, alongside Maamoul, a delicate semolina-based cookie with deep roots in Middle Eastern cuisine.

On its website, Ugah’s Bakery affirms that they “take pride in creating the most delectable pastries and baked goods, all inspired by the flavors of Israel. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet or savory, our hand-made creations are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Come and experience the magic of Ugah Bakery today.”

Although rooted in the flavors of Israel, the bakery’s menu extends to French pastry traditions, offering classics such as the crisp palmier and the universally beloved buttery croissant.

By combining classic techniques with a contemporary sensibility, Rubin offers a lineup that feels both familiar and elevated. While anticipation builds around the concept, an official opening timeline for the bakery has not yet been disclosed.
