A new chapter in craft brewing is unfolding in Orange County as Judge Brewery, founded by Christopher and Ashley Leanders, makes preparations to open in Rancho Santa Margarita in 2024.

The name itself carries a profound meaning, paying homage to Co-Owner Christopher Leanders’ late mother, who served as a Judge before her untimely passing.

Judge Brewery, which got its start as a home brewery in 2021, will open with three flagship beers, according to its website: Under Oath IPA, Off the Record Red Ale, Lady Justice Kolsch.

The Leanders recently filed for a liquor license application on Friday, November 17, 2023 to create its brews in Westminster, at 6386 Industry Way. It’s unclear where in Rancho Santa Margarita the taproom will be located.

“After years of creating fresh, high-quality craft beers via home brewing, creating a brewery of our own was a natural step for both of us to take,” according to Judge Brewery’s website. “With meticulous planning and gathering capital to see our dream come to fruition, we are excited to serve our friends, neighbors and community with the most delicious, crisp and refreshing craft beer styles!”
