A reformer Pilates studio is expanding its footprint across Philadelphia and the surrounding region.

JETSET Modern Pilates plans to open three new studios this year under franchise owner Christopher Corrado and his business partner, Dave. The first location is slated to debut in Northern Liberties in July, followed by Wayne this fall and Marlton, New Jersey, in December.

The duo also operate locations in Haverford and General Hospital.

“We believe in boutique fitness from our research, from our friends, and from our own experiences. Boutique fitness sells belonging. I really believe that hard work, creativity, and an incredible team and member experience can build something with a lot of upside. Even though it’s a franchise, the opportunity was really up to us,” Corrado told What Now Philadelphia.

When deciding where to develop a JETSET studio, Corrado said there is both a quantitative component, including numbers and demographics, and a qualitative one.

“Dave and I, we’re not outside operators who ran a market study and just picked Philly. We live here, we know the neighborhoods, the competitors, the local fitness culture,” he said. “For instance, in Wayne, although it’s only a couple of miles from our Haverford location, it’s a different community.”

Tamara Galinsky founded JETSET in 2010. After discovering a passion for Pilates, trying multiple studios, and craving a new challenge, she incorporated everything she learned into the concept and opened the studio.

The class delivers an immersive, 50-minute full-body workout on a reformer.

A reformer is a specialized Pilates machine with a sliding carriage, adjustable springs, straps and a footbar to provide resistance during exercise. The equipment supports a variety of low-impact movements designed to build strength, improve flexibility, enhance balance and develop core stability.

“It delivers something different than cycling or HIIT. Since we signed last summer, my business partner, Dave, and I started doing JETSET regularly. We absolutely love it, which is ironic because I think men are a huge untapped market for us. That’s something we’re going to try and tap into over time,” he said.

Reformer Pilates classes accommodate beginners, athletes and those recovering from injuries, as instructors can adjust resistance levels to suit each participant’s experience.

“There’s a variety of ways in which we can make sure that everyone’s comfortable. When someone comes in and says they’ve never been on a reformer, they’re a beginner, or they’re nervous, our studio leads create a welcoming and confidence-building environment,” Corrado said.

Corrado looks forward to expanding JETSET’s footprint.

“I feel like we could ultimately be the leader in the Philadelphia and greater Philadelphia market and I think that’s super exciting,” he said. “I’m really excited to continue to ensure that everything we learn is applied to the next studio and our execution, quality and client experience improves every single day.”
