Fast Times plans to open a new location at 18750 Willamette Drive, Suite A, expanding its New York-style pizza and soft-serve concept to West Linn, according to Bridgetown Bites. The incoming restaurant will take over the space previously occupied by Old Backyard Burgers Company, which shut its doors last September. No opening date has been announced.
The first Fast Times opened last year at 624 E. Burnside Street in Portland, inside the original Sizzle Pie space. The concept is owned by Matt Jacobson, one of the founders of Sizzle Pie, and was created as a more playful, late-night-friendly spot focused on pizza slices and soft serve.
While the full menu for the West Linn location has not yet been announced, the Portland shop currently offers meat, vegetarian, and vegan pies, as well as salads, desserts, and drinks. Some of its menu items carry a clear throwback theme, including pies like Power Up, The Spicoli, Blade Runner, Synth Wave, and Goonies Never Say Die.
The West Linn address puts Fast Times in a quieter, more residential stretch of the Portland metro, where the former burger spot left a vacancy on a street that serves as one of the community’s main commercial corridors. For a neighborhood that doesn’t have many late-night dining options, a pizza restaurant concept with soft serve could fill a genuine gap.
