Maison 1, an elevated coffee concept rooted in the aesthetics of English estate living, is coming to Portland’s Kerns neighborhood at 518 NE 20th Avenue, Suite 3-B, inside the Denizen Apartments complex, according to Bridgetown Bites. Owner Samyel Zidrashko confirmed to What Now Portland that the opening will be around September.
The concept goes well beyond a standard coffee shop. Zidrashko describes Maison 1 as a coffee atelier, a deliberate, unhurried space built around the ideas of slow mornings, garden rituals, craftsmanship, and warm hospitality. The menu will feature specialty coffee, signature drinks, house-made pastries, and thoughtfully prepared breakfast and brunch dishes baked from scratch, with protein cuisine also part of the offering.
Zidrashko says Maison 1 is being built as a place for community, private gatherings, events, and the kind of meaningful moments that tend to happen over good food and coffee. “We believe true privilege is having the time to enjoy things made with care,” Zidrashko said to What Now Portland.
The location puts Maison 1 just steps away from Nova Coffee on the same block, placing it in one of Portland’s most walkable and coffee-saturated corridors on the inner east side. Kerns sits at the heart of Portland’s eastside urban core, with easy access to Burnside and Sandy Boulevard and a mix of small businesses, dining, and neighborhood character that rewards any concept that comes to this area.
