The WHIRED wine bar in Downtown Sacramento closed last October. Now, a new bar that is one-of-its kind in Sacramento is secretly working on taking over the vacant space. According to licensing records from the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, a new concept called Legend Has It is replacing WHIRED at 410 L ST.

Sacramento Business Journal reported last October that the space once housed WHIRED’s Downtown location, sitting next to Golden 1 Center, became available for lease. Now, it appears the new tenant in the space is a bar owned and operated by Jose Medina.

Medina told What Now Sacramento over the phone that the incoming concept will be a HiFi bar “serving beer and wine, especially local craft beer.” The HiFi concept, having gained massive popularity in Japan and Korea, is officially known as listening bars. The concept stems back to the 1950s, and the ideology is simple: talk less, listen more.

While the space itself is turnkey, Medina mentioned that he was working on some remodeling to bring out that listening lounge vibe. “We hope to be the first bar of this kind in Sacramento,” Medina said, adding that he plans to bring in live DJs, starting on Saturday nights with plans to expand the schedule once things are up and running.

Legend Has It is anticipated to open later in the summer. The bar will serve small bites and light snacks, such as pretzels, but no heavy meals. Meanwhile, hours of operation have not been finalized. The bar’s website is currently under construction, although it already give away a slight hint on the upcoming bar’s ambience.
