A fast-growing hot chicken chain is cranking up the spice in Placer County.
Angry Chickz has announced plans to open its first Rocklin location at 6741 Stanford Ranch Rd, across the street from Costco. The company teased the debut on social media, writing that the “countdown has begun.”
“ROCKLIN, CA — THE HEAT IS COMING TO YOU,” the post reads. “It’s official… Angry Chickz is headed to Rocklin, CA and we’re bringing the heat with us.”
The chain was founded by David Mkhitaryan, who discovered Nashville hot chicken in 2017 and quickly became obsessed. After a year spent refining his own recipe, he opened the first Angry Chickz in East Hollywood in 2018 alongside his wife and best friend, aiming to serve “the best hot chicken with the best customer service.”
That formula has proven successful. Since its debut, the brand has grown to 37 locations across California, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, including nearby outposts in Sacramento and Elk Grove.
The menu features a variety of fiery favorites like sliders, tenders, and bowls, served at heat levels ranging from “Country” (no spice) to the waiver-worthy “Angry.” Southern-inspired sides such as mac and cheese and coleslaw are also available.
“Rocklin, things are about to get seriously spicy around here,” the team continued. Mkhitaryan told What Now Sacramento that the upcoming Angry Chickz location is slated to host a grand opening in July 2026.
