As people always say, third time’s a charm. After two failed ice cream shop concepts, a retail spot in Hardin development in downtown Sacramento is finally seeing some legitimate hope for a new business as Bob Simpson’s Townie Bar receives city approval on October 12.

Bob Simpson is a legend in Sacramento’s hospitality industry, as he was the reason why the Sacramento streets no longer turn quiet around 9 p.m. Since the 1990s, Bob Simpson has been creating nightclubs in a city that hasn’t developed the concept of a vibrant nightlife and has since spearheaded the big, rich night scene Sacramento now boasts about.

Starting a bar at a location where two other businesses have failed seems like the perfect Bob thing to do. Looking at his long record of successful bars and nightclubs, Bob has keen eyes and a sharp sense to re-concept according to market trends to provide a good neighborhood experience. While there is no detailed information on Townie Bar’s style, vibe, and menu at the moment, knowing what Bob has built for the city, the public can expect the bar to be lively, engaging, friendly, and filled with good drinks.

Townie Bar will be located at the 1,200-sqft space on the ground floor of 701 K St., between 7th and 8th streets, but there is currently no further information on when the bar will open. The bar plans to operate from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m., but the hours may change upon official opening. At the time of coverage, Bob did not get back to What Now Sacramento with commentaries.
