Bang Bang, one of Downtown’s premier nightlife spots with Asian fusion bites, will soon relocate to a new space within San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.

The 7,000 square-foot space with a second-story sushi house has been sitting at 526 Market Street for the past 11 years, giving San Diego a unique nighttime hotspot known for its tunneled entrance, delicious sushi, multiple rooms, and Ryan Gosling-covered women’s bathroom. Bang Bang will host its final night on Saturday, June 29, before relocating to a yet-to-be-announced space, according to a recent Instagram post. Until then, Bang Bang will operate under regular hours.

“Established in 2013, Bang Bang reopened its doors under new ownership in 2021, updating its iconic Asian-fusion restaurant and re-designing the nightlife experience,” according to the company’s website. “Bang Bang’s signature style, true to traditional and contemporary Asian culture, is the ultimate destination for unforgettable memories. With years of experience in hospitality and the event industry, we provide unique sounds combined with outstanding food and drink selections. Bang Bang aims to bring world-renowned producers to the scene while also introducing new and underground artists.”

Johnny Shocky and business partner Mauricio Couturier first opened Bang Bang in July 2013 before eventually selling the company in 2019 to Miami-based Pyramid Artists & Events, led by Islam Ahmed. The business reopened in 2021 and successfully navigated its way through the pandemic. Now, almost exactly 11 years after its first opening, Bang Bang is ready for something new and exciting, as described in its announcement. In its final weeks at this location, the company has also announced a series of closing shows.

“After years of unforgettable nights and delicious sushi, we’re moving to an exciting new venue,” according to a recent Instagram post. “But before we go, we want to celebrate the incredible memories we’ve made together with a special series of closing events.”
