Shake Shack keeps growing in the San Diego area, adding a new location in Mira Mesa. San Diego Tribune reports the burger chain will demolish a former Souplantation restaurant and rebuild their own drive-thru location at the site in Mira Mesa Shopping Center West.
Shake Shack currently operates over 300 locations in 80 countries. San Diegans can indulge in crinkle-cut fries, Angus burgers, chicken sandwiches, and premium milkshakes at five locations in the county, including in Little Italy, Mission Valley, and Carlsbad.
QSR Magazine reports the brand aims to open another 65-70 locations in 2023, with 10-15 of them planned as drive-thru locations. Shake Shack is also increasing the availability of quick-order kiosks across all operating restaurants.
Shake Shack leased the 8,000-square-foot plot back in October 2022 from property owners Mesa Centers. Site plans state the company will reconstruct the site to feature a 3,510-square-foot restaurant with adjoining drive-thru and an additional 1,122-square-foot patio.
It’s too early to tell when we can experience the latest Shake Shack drive-thru location. Representatives for the company are staying quiet at the moment, with much of the activity on-site depending on the city permitting process.
