SKIMS, the Los Angeles-based apparel and shapewear brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, is preparing to open a new location at Fashion Valley at 7007 Friars Road.
The company’s new store is currently under construction on the second level of the shopping center next to Anthropologie and across from Athleta, according to a job posting first reported by SanDiegoVille. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the store is expected to open in Summer 2026. The company is already hiring employees for the San Diego location. Customers can expect a selection of shapewear, underwear, loungewear, apparel, sleepwear, swimwear, dresses, and basics.
Founded in 2019, SKIMS has grown into one of the most recognizable apparel brands in the country. The company describes itself as a solutions-oriented brand focused on creating the next generation of underwear, loungewear, and shapewear. Its product lineup is designed to serve a wide range of body types, with an emphasis on comfort, fit, and functionality. The Fashion Valley location will mark the brand’s first dedicated store in San Diego County.
In addition to its core collections, SKIMS expanded into menswear in 2023 with the launch of SKIMS Mens. The line includes underwear and foundational garments designed specifically for men. The company has also built a strong presence through partnerships with the NBA, WNBA, and USA Basketball. SKIMS previously served as the official underwear partner for Team USA during recent Olympic competitions.
This will be an excellent landing space for SKIMS, considering Fashion Valley remains one of Southern California’s premier shopping destinations. Opened in 1969, the center features more than 1.7 million square feet of retail space and is owned by Simon Property Group. The property is anchored by Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, and Macy’s.
The addition of SKIMS continues to strengthen Fashion Valley’s mix of national fashion and lifestyle retailers. With construction underway and hiring already in progress, the brand appears to be moving steadily toward its anticipated summer opening.
