The restaurateur behind popular Greek and Turkish-inspired eatery Gyros & Tzatziki in the Mission District is debuting a new concept in Union Square.

Coming to 582 Sutter Street, The Parthenon — a modern Meditteranean and Californian concept — will land near Akikio’s Sushi Bar, Obscenity Bar & Lounge, and Pacific Cocktail Heaven.

Owner Cem Bulutoglu tells What Now San Francisco that he is applying for an entertainment permit and intends to host live music performances.

Regarding the neighborhood, he shares, “I want to turn it around… I want to bring something lively.”

The menu is still in the works, but Bulutoglu mentions that lamb souvlaki, zucchini fritters, and fresh fish will be offered — alongside wine from California and Southern Europe.

The Parthenon is slated to open in mid-April. Stay tuned for updates.
