Mammone, a new Italian restaurant from the owners of Carmel-by-the-Sea’s Stationæry, is preparing to open on Dolores Street near Fifth Avenue, according to The San Francisco Chronicle. The restaurant is being developed by husband-and-wife team Anthony and Alissa Carnazzo, who opened Stationæry in 2018. Mammone is planned for the rear building of a property with a courtyard, while a neighboring space will become Mama’s Boy, an Italian deli.
The Carnazzos are developing Mammone as a family-style restaurant centered on southern coastal Italian cooking. Chef Amalia Scatena, who also oversees the food at Stationæry, will lead the kitchens, and the menu will feature fresh seafood, vegetables, herbs, pasta and Neapolitan pizza.
Planned dishes include sea bream crudo with Meyer lemon, crispy garlic, Taggiasca olives and basil; spaghetti alla Nerano with fried zucchini; and orecchiette with Monterey Bay squid and shell beans. Pizza offerings may include toppings such as culatello or smoky blue cheese with pears and arugula.
The restaurant will occupy a space designed to resemble a house, with fireplaces in both the bar and dining room. Plans also call for a wine library and private dining room upstairs. The Carnazzos have said the new businesses are intended to serve local residents as well as visitors. Mammone is expected to open in 2026.
