Chandara House plans to reopen under new ownership at 655 Front St., Suite 10, in Lynden in October 2026, owner Rawinnipa Krajokthong told What Now Seattle.
Rawinnipa and Daychaman Kumsom took over the restaurant in mid-September. Rawinnipa will oversee the business as owner, while Daychaman will serve as kitchen leader and manage the restaurant’s culinary operations.
After moving from Thailand to the United States, Rawinnipa and Daychaman opened a restaurant in a Seattle suburb. A road trip later, they discovered Lynden.
“The lush fields, close-knit community, and genuine warmth of the people made us realize that Lynden was the right place for us,” Rawinnipa said.
Rawinnipa and Daychaman received formal culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu and specialized instruction in Thai cuisine at Wandee Culinary Art School. Their restaurant experience includes work in Thailand and the United States.
“For us, Thai food is not simply about following a recipe. It is about carefully selecting ingredients, understanding the cooking process, respecting traditional techniques, and creating the right balance of flavors in every dish.”
Chandara House is temporarily closed while the new owners update the interior, signage, and branding. Plans include creating a warmer dining space and a new logo.
The menu is also changing. Chandara House will add new recipes and dishes, clearly identify gluten-free options, and expand its vegan selection. Customers will be able to customize selected dishes with chicken, pork, beef, tofu, or vegetables. The restaurant will also offer different spice levels.
“We wanted the new menu to offer something for everyone—from guests looking for classic Thai favorites to those who prefer vegan, gluten-free, or more customizable options,” Krajokthong said.
An exact reopening date depends on completing the local health department’s inspection and approval process.
“We hope Chandara House can be a place where everyone feels welcome, enjoys good food, and feels a little bit of the warmth of Thailand,” Rawinnipa said.
