This week, beloved San Diego beef birria chain Mike’s Red Tacos announced that it has signed a deal with multi-concept franchisee Built Different Brands to bring Mike’s Red Tacos restaurants to Florida. The deal will see 36 Mike’s Red Tacos restaurants launched across the Orlando and Tampa markets.
The first location is expected to launch next year.
Born as a food truck, Mike’s Red Tacos has gained considerable notice in the last few years as its birria becomes more and more popular.
“As a result of three high-performing restaurants opened within the past four years, Mike’s Red Tacos has attracted a social media following, especially with Millennial and Gen Z customers who value authenticity but also want a fun, approachable and shareable experience,” says a press release announcing the opening.
At the helm of Built Different Brands is veteran franchisee Kal Gullapalli. The company franchises restaurants like PopUp Bagels, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Marco’s Pizza.
“Birria and consome offer a craveable, shareable experience with genuine authenticity that has a real draw for consumers,” Gullapalli said in the press release. “In addition to the incredible menu, our team has already built the well-oiled machine needed to work through site selection and real estate considerations as we grow Mike’s Red Tacos across Florida. The Birria is enough to make this brand stand out, but it’s truly the people behind the company who will drive its success.”
Already more than 350 units are committed around the country, as Mike’s Red Tacos prepares to take the birria market by storm. Next year, Florida will get its first taste!
