Casalegno’s Country Store is set to reopen at 3 Laurel Glen Rd, Soquel, under the ownership of Matt and Marissa Kotila. After spending the last 15 to 16 years under outside management, the property and business have returned to family hands, with the couple envisioning a community gathering place centered on local food and agriculture.
“We intend to reopen with the vision of a coffee shop and farm store,” Marissa Kotila told WhatNow. “We have beautiful produce we want to share.”
The couple currently operates Casalegno Family Farm, located adjacent to the store, and plans to incorporate fresh produce along with a curated selection of locally crafted food items. Visitors can expect coffee, pastries, breads, preserves, canned goods, and products sourced from area vendors and artisans.
“We’re really hoping to make many connections with local vendors and artisans of local products. We want to open and have locally crafted items and food items,” said Marissa Kotila.
Marissa also added that the project is deeply personal for the family. In addition to overseeing the buildout, the couple is moving into the home’s residential portion, which sits behind the small storefront. Having grown up and raised their children in the area, they say they are excited to contribute to a community that has already embraced the store’s return.
“There is a lot of support from our community. It was time for a change, and we’ve got a big vision.”
While a specific opening date has not been set, Kotila hopes to welcome guests before the end of summer.
