La Ventana de Pasta is the new promise for Katella Commons. Husband-and-wife team of chefs Danielle and Alessandro Zecca, behind Amiga Amore, have announced the couple’s take on “Mexitalian” cuisine, blending the culinary traditions of Mexico and Italy through a menu inspired by family recipes, shared heritage, and seasonal California ingredients.
The concept will be one of the culinary additions to Katella Commons, the 50,000-square-foot food hall coming to OCVIBE, scheduled to open in early 2027.
While the restaurant’s full menu has not been disclosed, the concept is expected to combine Latin American warmth with Italian culinary traditions, celebrating the intersection of both cultures through thoughtfully prepared dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
The announcement comes as Amiga Amore continues to earn industry acclaim, after becoming a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Emerging Restaurant in 2024, followed by Danielle Duran Zecca’s semifinalist nomination for Best Chef: California in 2025.
The new concept joins other Californian concepts at Katella Commons, including Evil Cooks, Burritos La Palma, Khao Soi from the owners of Manaao Thai Comfort Food, and two concepts from Darkroom chef Zach Scherer. The food hall will serve as the culinary centerpiece of OCVIBE, the $5 billion mixed-use entertainment district taking shape around the Honda Center.
