Few foods have captured the American imagination and appetite more consistently or with more longevity than the hotdog. The mind behind one of DC’s top wine bars is ensuring the beloved dish continues to reign supreme in the stomachs of local diners; Diane Gross of Cork Wine Bar is bringing a new concept focused on frankfurters called Marv’s Dogs to the District later this year, reports Eater Washington DC.
Gross will be partnering with her husband Khalid Pitts on the Tenleytown restaurant. The precise location of Marv’s has not been revealed yet, only the neighborhood. However, DC foodies can look forward to enjoying a delicious dog in a familiar and homey environment, designed to evoke a sense of comfort and nostalgia.
Marv’s Dogs aims to be a destination for the entire family. The restaurant will feature an activity room, furnished with retro arcade games.
Marv’s menu will focus on serving authentic Chicago toppings atop its freshly prepared hotdogs. The concept will round out its commitment to American comfort food with soft serve and cans of beer.
Marv’s does not presently have much of a presence online, however the restaurant’s Instagram account shows two posts and assures future regulars that it will be opening this fall. Tenleytown hotdog enthusiasts can follow the account for updates on the opening, as well as pop-up dates for those too eager to wait until autumn to sample its fare.
