A new restaurant, L’Orange, will soon open its doors in Ladd’s Addition at 2005 SE 11th Ave, according to a recent permit filing.
A representative of L’Orange did not immediately return What Now Portland’s request for comment.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, their website teases a “coming soon” note on the home page.
In a recent interview with the Portland Eater, L’Orange was stated to be coming from the owners of Holdfast Dining. L’Orange will be a separate entity however, one that embraces the concept of a la carte dining, allowing patrons to savor a glass of wine accompanied by a single plate, even on a casual Wednesday night.
The menu at L’Orange draws inspiration from a recent journey to the French Riviera, just before the onset of the pandemic. Mediterranean influences permeate the dishes, with a particular emphasis on seafood.
One standout creation is a tantalizing bowl of mussels and clams bathed in tarragon-mussel butter, accompanied by roasted tomatoes and marble potatoes. Additionally, various types of fish, like corvina meagre, will be skillfully grilled on a small Binchotan grill in the restaurant’s kitchen. As for the rotating crepe offerings, there are plans to pair crab with bay shrimp, striking a balance between high-quality ingredients and approachable flavors.
