While an official opening date has yet to be released, nestled in the Columbia River Gorge in Carson, Washington, Backwoods Brewing Company began its journey in 2012. Since then, it has become a destination for locals and visitors alike, earning acclaim that the brewery expanded to its second location in Portland. Led by the Waters family, Backwoods Brewing is on a mission to deliver robust beers and exceptional food, capturing the essence of the Pacific Northwest.
What sets Backwoods Brewing apart is not only the quality of its products but also the sense of community that permeates every aspect of the brewery. The team of brewers and staff is comprised of local family members and close friends, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie that forms the cornerstone of their success. Work and play blend seamlessly within the Backwoods family, fostering an environment where passion and collaboration thrive.
The initial brews were crafted on a humble one-barrel system at the pub. However, as demand and recognition for their brews grew, the Waters family expanded their operation to a seven-barrel system and, eventually, the impressive 20-barrel system they proudly use today. At their original pub in Carson, visitors are able to enjoy their pizza options, while the second location in Portland provides patrons with loaded tots and flavorful wraps, according to the company website.
