The team behind Puesto and Marisi Italiano are working on a new project in Seaport Village. Eater reports the group will open a new Mexican-inspired bar concept in a 2,000-square-foot unit adjacent to the Puesto restaurant located at The Headquarters

Puesto is a family-owned Mexican restaurant, currently operating nine locations across San Diego, Orange County, and the Bay Area.

The new project will reportedly include a beverage program focused on tequila and mezcal by the VP of Bar and Spirits for Puesto and Marisi Italiano, Beau du Bois. The food menu will feature Puesto’s familiar brand of artisanal Mexican cuisine, with classic Mexican entrees, tacos, and ceviche made with seasonal ingredients.

Initial art renderings of the project aim to transport guests to Mexico City’s Colonia Roma, said to be one of the coolest neighborhoods in the city. The aesthetic of Puesto’s new spot encapsulates the area’s lively foodie culture and artists’ hub with a mix of rustic art, tropical plants, and modern decor.

The new location is expected to open in late 2023. For now, visit Puesto at The Headquarters and check out their website for more information.
