Last summer, What Now San Diego shared the news about an immersive new project planned in National City. The area’s first cannabis consumption lounge was in the process of clearing all of the hurdles necessary to start the build.

Now according to a new permit filing with the city, the project looks to be moving forward with an official address.

Part cannabis retail storefront, part cafe, and part gathering space for the community, Sessions by the Bay has proposed its one-of-a-kind location to fit into a nearly 13,000-square-foot space just west of Interstate 5. Its address comes complete with lots of nearby parking and sits adjacent to the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

The lounge, separate from its retail space, will offer food and non-alcoholic refreshments. Owner Pearl Ayon explained that while alcohol is not permitted for sale in cannabis lounges, cannabis-infused drinks and edibles are approved for sale and enjoyment on-site.

Sessions by the Bay will reportedly open by late 2023. Stay updated with Sessions by the Bay by visiting their website
