The owners of Bagby Beer Company, found in Oceanside at 601 South Coast Highway, have announced the brewery is closing and passing the location off to Costa Mesa-based Green Cheek Beer Co.

After working at San Diego’s Pizza Port Brewing, Jeff Bagby and his wife Dande launched Bagby Beer Company in 2014, offering delicious beer to North County for an entire decade. The company has now announced that Green Cheek Beer Company will take over Bagby’s Oceanside property at the end of the month, which includes four separate bars, a spacious outdoor area, second-story views of the beach, an onsite brewery and a full kitchen with a pizza oven.

“The time has at last come for a change here at Bagby Beer Company,” read the announcement on Bagby Beer’s website. “Our brewery has been the singular focus of our lives and has been a deeply felt, extraordinarily personal endeavor from inception. We’ve hoped to share our love for great things of top quality through countless expressions – large and small – that collectively have become the Bagby experience for our guests and employees.”

This will be the first time Green Cheek Beer Company, led by Evan Price and Brian Rauso, lands in San Diego. The trio of best friends have expanded the brand to Orange, Costa Mesa, and Sunset Beach, offering a variety of hoppy styles of beer, lagers, stouts, and hard seltzers. On top of delicious beer, Green Cheek Beer Company’s onsite restaurants offer an American-style menu with burgers, sandwiches, wings, salads, and sides. The company’s fourth location is expected to open in Spring 2024.

“We’re excited to announce that we’ll be opening in Oceanside!” Green Cheek Beer Company recently announced on its social media. “Our good good pals Jeff & Dande Bagby are closing their beloved Bagby Beer at the end of the month, handing us the torch, and we’ll be opening Green Cheek Oceanside in early March, with the exact date to come sooooon.”
