Collierville’s Design Review Commission has given the green light to Chick-fil-A’s plans for a new restaurant, pending resolution of some design issues to be addressed before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in January.
If approved, the existing Chick-fil-A in the area will close, and the 6,110-square-foot restaurant on 2.54 acres northwest of Poplar Avenue and Bray Station Road will take its place. The proposed site will feature a drive-thru along Poplar and a new street connecting Bray Station to Cartwright Lane as the sole access point.
The Chick-fil-A tract, owned by Bob Cartwright, raised design concerns related to the appearance of the service door facing Poplar. Chairman Curtis Doss emphasized the importance of a uniform color frame for the building. Despite concerns, the proposal received minimal public opposition or support at the Design Review Commission meeting.
The proposed Chick-fil-A will be run by franchisee Grant Gibbs and is part of the company’s extensive Collierville expansion plans, with discussions also ongoing for a location near Wolf River Boulevard and Houston Levee.
