Founded in Key Biscayne, The Empanada’s was an instant hit, and it has been showing considerable growth in South Florida ever since. There are now three additional outposts of The Empanada’s, in Downtown Miami, Aventura, and—as of just recently—Doral. The brand’s website says there are also plans to expand to Madrid, Spain.
Meanwhile, a fifth location is in the works here in the South Florida market, at 1139 N Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. Plan review paperwork was submitted for that location by The Empanada’s Fort Lauderdale LLC.
What Now reached out to Maximiliano Fava, one of the owners behind The Empanada’s Fort Lauderdale LLC, to ask about plans for the brand’s fifth location. What Now had previously spoken with Fava while the restaurateur was at work on another Key Biscayne restaurant, Lima Estilo Nikkei. Fava was not immediately available for comment.
Even when you’re successful, any business venture is always a risk and requires tremendous work. Fava described this dynamic to Islander News back in 2021, saying, “It is a great myth that when you arrive, everything is very easy and money comes easy, it is not so.”
And yet persistence has paid off as The Empanada’s continues to expand, offering a menu of Traditional Empanadas in varieties like Beef, Spinach, and Chicken; Special Empanadas like the Bacon, Egg & Cheese and the Salmon Philly (salmon, scallions, cream cheese, dill weed, fennel seed and cherry tomato); and Signature Empanadas like the Cheesy Pampa (premium shredded meat, four cheeses Mexican style, cheddar sauce, black beans, corn, bacon, and chimichurri sauce) and the Empanada’s Gourmet (premium ground beef, mozzarella cheese, gouda and provolone cheese).
There are also Sweet Empanada varieties like Nutella & Brownie, Oreo, and Guyaba & Cheese.
