Yasu, the acclaimed concept that specializes in elevated cuisine from around the world, announced on social media last week that its time in Long Beach’s Belmont Shore neighborhood will end this Sunday, Jun 25, and that owner George Stavros was eyeing a move to Corona Del Mar.

“We want to say a massive thank you to the Long Beach community,” the Yasu Family wrote in a post. “We have chosen to change our location and have decided to expand our business to Corona Del Mar,” adding, “Stay tuned for future updates.”

When reached by What Now Orange County, Stavros declined to go into specifics regarding the move – which is slated to be completed late next year – however, he did reveal that it will involve a name change while retaining the same menu, save for a few items, as well as a full bar and that the space will likely be double the size.

Billing its plates as “gastronomic adventures inspired by world travels,” Yasu’s menu is a formidable player on the fusion scene, bringing together dishes as eclectic as Pork Chops, King Salmon, and a 1/2 Pound Double Cheeseburger, as well as sushi rolls such as Filet Mignon, Hot Cheeto, and Strawberry, with various premium cut steaks to boot.

Despite having opened just last year, Yasu established itself as a unique take on the steakhouse experience, that effectively “brought the whole world into one restaurant,” as Stavros described it to the Long Beach Business Journal in January.

“We wanted to make it a boutique-type restaurant that people could dress up or not, have a nice date night or celebratory family night,” he went on to say. “It’s just something that I felt was needed on Second Street.”
