Sacramento’s city record indicates a new coffee shop called Philz Coffee might be joining Campus Commons at 2070 Fair Oaks Blvd, Ste 150. The new location is anticipated to open in the spring or early summer of 2024.

Philz Coffee currently has two other locations in Sacramento at 4680 Freeport Blvd Ste 130 and 1725 R Street, and another in Davis at 517 2nd Street. The San Francisco-based, Palestine-founded coffee chain was established by Phil Jaber and his son Jacob in 2003. Today, the company has brick-and-mortar locations specializing in customized blends with coffee shops in California and Chicago, IL.

“Philz Coffee has always been passionate about bringing our great-tasting coffee and community together, and we saw this location as an opportunity to create a space where shoppers, residents, and students, faculty, and staff at Cal State University, Sacramento can stop by to work, study or just relax with a great cup of coffee throughout the day,” said Patti Nelson, Philz Coffee’s Chief Development Officer, in an email. “We also believe Philz will be the perfect complement to the dynamic mix of shops and restaurants already in the area.”

In addition to coffee shops, Philz Coffee also offers coffee subscriptions. The company takes pride in its wide variety of customized coffee blends made from sustainably sourced green beans from around the world. Currently, Philz Coffee is overseen by CEO Mahesh Sadarangani and COO Adam Stansberry, former SVP of US Retail and Store Operations at Caribou Coffee.

Philz Coffee will add a refreshing California-based coffee shop option to Campus Commons. Other restaurants and cafes include a Starbucks, Pieology Pizzeria at Sacramento University, Pearl’s Boba, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Piatti, and Ettore’s Bakery and Restaurant.

“We look forward to continued growth as a brand and are currently looking for similar sites in Sacramento in hopes of expanding our presence in the community and adding more stores in the future.” Nelson said.
