A new locally-owned bakery is planned to occupy a small retail space at 4650 Stockton Blvd in Sacramento. The space has been vacant for over a decade but will soon become the new home of Forgotten Bakery. The project is currently applying for construction permits, specifically plumbing and mechanical permitting inspections through the county. Forgotten Bakery is anticipated to open in early January, 2024.
Forgotten Bakery will make all its items in-house. The space will have a pickup window where customers can order using a touch screen and an outdoor dining patio. The Forgotten Bakery specializes in baked goods such as traditional bagels, bagel sandwiches, and Chilean-inspired empanadas, as well as organic coffee offerings.
Co-owner Robby Naim is a Sacramento native and also works as a freelance graphic designer. Naim learned to make bagels at an early age from his father, who used to own the Bay Area factory Bagel Mania Bakery. Meanwhile, his partner in life and in business, Paul Dollar, will use his Chilean heritage to inspire the empanada recipes.
The partners have been working to open the business since signing a lease about nine months ago. The duo started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the brick-and-mortar location. The campaign has a $9,000 goal and has since raised over $7,000.
Naim also plans to open a second location, potentially in Folsom, once the Stockton Boulevard site is up and running. The owners also intend to test the waters in the Bay Area market with a pop-up operation.
