Breakfast Club at Midtown, a Bay Area breakfast and lunch chain, is moving into the space at 1813 Capitol Ave in Sacramento previously occupied by Range Midtown, with a sign for the new restaurant already posted at the location. The move ties back to Ahsan Ali, co-owner of Range, whose name also appears connected to Breakfast Club’s Folsom location through state alcohol licensing records. Range Midtown opened in that spot back in April, taking over a space that had been home to Sibling by Pushkin’s restaurant before that.
This marks the second Breakfast Club at Midtown location planned for Sacramento, with another confirmed for Folsom in a former Five Guys space. The chain, founded in 2015, puts a creative spin on classic breakfast fare, with dishes like peach cobbler cakes, raspberry cream cheese French toast and blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes. The rest of the menu ranges from eggs and hash browns paired with everything from bacon to burger steak, to items like loco moco, chilaquiles, chicken and waffles and corned beef hash, with burgers, sandwiches and salads on the lunch side.
Range Midtown’s closure comes after Ali said, according to the Sacramento Bee, that the location never caught on with customers, noting that Capitol Avenue puts a new restaurant up against established neighbors like Mulvaney’s B&L and Crepeville. Range’s original Roseville location, Range Kitchen & Tap, has been running successfully for eight years.
