Born during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fratesi’s Pizza built a following through a very successful pop-up run. Then Fratesi’s took a break:
“On hiatus,” the headline of the brand’s Instagram page still reads. “Any updates will be posted. Thank you.”
Then, a few days ago, the brand made a huge announcement with an Instagram post. An image shows a key placed on the palm of an open hand, and the text reads, “We have finally signed a lease on a space. It will be a bit to get the place ready but just know that it is happening. Thank you to all the people that have reached out asking when we are coming back. Hopefully see you all relatively soon.”
Coverage by the Miami New Times appeared the very next day, explaining that Fratesi’s Pizza owners Brian Griffiths and Chris Fratesi have signed a lease for a brick-and-mortar Fratesi’s Pizza restaurant at 69 E Flagler St. It’s expected to open in early 2025.
“The menu focuses on their tavern-style pies — think ultra-thin, crisp crusts with edge-to-edge cheese coverage,” says the Miami New Times coverage. “Past favorites included the ‘Demon Pig Boy’ with pickled hot peppers and Calabrian chili oil and their vodka pie. The new spot will add Italian ice and select appetizers.”
The Flagler Street location is situated between Over Under and Tâm Tâm Downtown, near Julia & Henry’s.
