Checkers is continuing to play chess with its Pennsylvania comeback story. Led by a franchisee with considerable brand experience, the fast-casual chain has two more locations in the pipeline, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Dinesh Goswami will be helming the new restaurants, set to open in Center City and Oxford Circle. The locations are still in the early phases and details are sparse. Checkers and Goswami are not yet revealing the addresses of the storefronts, as leases have not been signed.

These new storefronts are part of a greater push by the brand to re-enter the Philadelphia metro market, after shuttering 13 area locations in 2022. Goswami signed on with Checkers in 2023, with the aim of reopening five of the defunct restaurants alongside developing new locations.

Checkers was founded in 1986 in Alabama. The chain, which serves a selection of American fast-food favorites, has expanded to include more than 700 locations across the United States.
