Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, which operates one other Illinois store in Schaumburg, aims to open a second location in our fair state by fall 2022. In an email with What Now Chicago, Lauren Murakami, Public Relations & Social Media Supervisor for Kura Sushi USA, shared the company is slated to open a location in Oakbrook Terrace, IL at 1755 22nd St, Unit B by next fall, although timing is subject to change.

The “Kura Experience” is known for its two conveyor belt system, the first of which, the primary belt, is called the Revolving Sushi Bar. Items on the bar snake through the eatery for selection, all the while protected by the company’s Mr. Fresh™ ventilation lid. Plate-tracking technology monitors how long the items have been in circulation, ensuring your food is always fresh and delicious.

The Express Belt or “sushi highway” is positioned above the primary belt and, via touch panel tablets located on each table in the restaurant, ferries your orders directly to you from the kitchen.

Kura’s menu boasts over 140 offerings of nigiri, sushi rolls, crispy rice, gunkan, hand rolls, carpaccio, ramen, and udon. Sides and desserts are also available for order. The sushi is comprised of top quality ingredients, some of which, like the company’s signature wasabi, are sourced directly from Japan. Dashi, or broth for items like the miso soup, is made in-house daily.

Alas, a year is a long wait, but you can always head to Schaumburg in the meantime, and be sure to check out Kura online to learn more.
