Italian sandwich shop/ bakery Firenze Italian Street Food is hoping to make its way into several food halls throughout Chicagoland.
The company, originally located within West Loop’s French Market, recently expanded to a second location on the border of Wicker Park and Ukrainian Village. Now, founder/CEO Alan Wallis and COO Kevin Hunsberger are in talks to open within several food halls later this year, first reported by Block Club Chicago. The duo hopes to have as many as 10 locations by 2024. The specific food halls are unknown at this point, but guests can expect the company’s famous schiacciata bread when they finally open.
The company takes pride in making this delicious bread in-house every day when it’s only found in Italy. They use authentic meats and cheeses inspired by Italy and prepare their homemade roasted vegetables and sauces daily to create simple and delicious food. The menu at their two brick-and-mortars includes several salads and sandwiches, such as a Caprese, truffle prosciutto, spicy soppressata, and more. The company hopes these dishes will temporarily transport a customer to the great culinary city of Florence, Italy.
