Popular Logan Square pasta restaurant Daisies has announced it is relocating within the area to 2375 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Owner Joe Frillman had previously announced the desire to relocate to a larger space a few months ago, saying he hoped to do so by the end of the year. Now he and his team have revealed more details regarding the relocation. Early next year, possibly February 2023, Daisies will move to a 5,500-square-foot space with 110 seats, designed by FC Studio. The new space, which is more than three times larger than its original location, will feature an all-day cafe with an espresso bar, pastry counter, and grab-and-go items, according to Eater.
The larger space will allow Frillman to expand his reach beyond the restaurant. An attached studio kitchen with cameras may allow him to use QR codes to link to videos of him demonstrating recipes. There’s also a 30-person private dining room that Frillman hopes to use for charity events and possibly pasta-making classes.
“It’s going to allow us to do what we always kind of wanted to do,” Fillman tells Eater Chicago.
When the restaurant made its initial announcement, there was no word about what would happen with the current location at 2523 N. Milwaukee Ave. At the time, Frillman said he wanted to focus on building a new space that would better suit their needs rather than renew their current 2022 lease. Now, the restaurant has revealed the space will close a month before the new location opens for renovations to eventually become a full-time grocery store and farmstand.
With an expected opening date around Memorial Day, the store will proudly feature Frillman Farms, Mick Klug Farm, and Catalpa Grove Farm as vendors. Additionally, Frillman hopes to use the space for lunch service during the day and potentially a cocktail lounge at night. Customers can expect various sandwiches, like a wagyu French dip, for lunch service.
