A third location for Ricky’s Hot Chicken is opening in North Texas. The Halal, peanut-free and dairy-free Nashville hot chicken restaurant is planning a location at 8400 Preston Rd. in Plano, near the Frisco border.

The Plano spot is tentatively set to open sometime in mid-2023 and will feature indoor and outdoor seating, plus a large parking lot, according to a Facebook post. The space will need minor renovations before opening to the public.

Founder Ricky Tran first opened Ricky’s Hot Chicken in Richardson in 2020, and a second spot opened in Arlington in 2022. Tran comes from an engineering background and after trying hot chicken, he began researching Nashville hot chicken. According to the company website, Tran cooked up hot chicken samples at home and gave them away, “so they could experience what he had the first time! The pure joy, passion and support from all over is what led to the creation of Ricky!”

Customer service is a top priority at Ricky’s Hot Chicken, plus the menu includes a variety of offerings. From legs and thighs and wings to tenders and nuggets, plus sandwiches and a variety of sides, Ricky’s has something for everyone.

Heat levels vary from no heat to medium, which is like a jalapeno, to XHOT with habanero, ghost, and scorpion, and A-BOMB, which also adds reaper. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can also get chicken and waffles.
