A café featuring freshly brewed coffees, light fare food options, and natural wines is in the works for the Potter Highlands Historic District.
Middle State Coffee founder Jay DeRose tells What Now Denver that his second Denver location could open early next year at 2622 32nd Ave.
DeRose grew up in north Denver and has always liked the Potter Highlands area. “I’ve always romanticized about having a shop in an area where I grew up, an area that means a lot to me,” DeRose said.
A new addition to the second location will be a natural wine program. “It’s just something I’ve been into for years now, really cool naturally-processed wines.”
DeRose has plans to possibly extend hours at the original location to phase in and test the natural wine program once permits are in place. “We are not claiming to be experts on wine,” DeRose said. “We just have fun with what we choose to work with.”
The original location opened in June 2019 in the Baker neighborhood at 212 Santa Fe Drive. DeRose hopes the second location on 32nd Avenue will open mid-winter or early spring.
