One of the biggest casualties of the pandemic for Denver foodies was the shuttering of Benny’s, a Mexican eatery that had been a Cap Hill staple for 30+ years. Rumors have been swirling about the business reopening, and city records show work is scheduled at the 301 E 7th Ave. property.

The City and County of Denver approved structural plans submitted by owner Benjamin Armas on May 3. Documents state the business is looking to “open a wall and insert windows between our dining room and patio.”

There have been other signs of life recently from the brand. Last week, Benny’s Facebook page updated its cover photo; the post has 50+ comments from people begging for more information.

While the Benny’s team did not respond to What Now Denver to comment about an opening date, the page posted on May 5 saying, “We are still trying to figure things out, we will not leave everyone hanging and will give you an update as soon as we have one!”
