San Pedro Fish Market is excited to announce plans to open two new permanent locations, at West Harbor and Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf.

As part of this exciting expansion, the brand has signed a 49-year lease to rebuild its legacy location within the West Harbor development, according to a press release. This will ensure its continued presence at the heart of San Pedro’s waterfront for generations. The new West Harbor location will span 55,000 square feet, making it one of the largest restaurants in the United States. It will offer a robust 3,000-seat capacity reminiscent of its original legacy operation.

“We’re excited to embark on this journey and preserve the rich legacy of San Pedro Fish Market while enhancing the guest experience,” Michael Ungaro, CEO and Owner of San Pedro Fish Market, said in a press release. “Our new locations will bring back our beloved seafood favorites while honoring our deep roots—a tradition that began in 1982 when we became San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant, embracing the waterfront spirit that defines us. We look forward to creating vibrant new community gathering places where memories are made and our legacy of shared experiences come together.”

With a focus on outdoor patio dining that accounts for 85-90 percent of the space, guests will enjoy their meals against the stunning backdrop of the waterfront, while the remaining 10-15 percent will be dedicated to indoor seating, ensuring an inviting and memorable experience, rain or shine, for seafood lovers year-round.

The design promises to blend experiential and traditional dining, providing a venue where families can create cherished memories around exceptional food, including San Pedro Fish Market’s World Famous Shrimp Tray. Planned features include event spaces, private dining options, and areas for podcasters and content creators to conduct live broadcasts, paying homage to its coveted position among the nation’s top ten most Instagrammed restaurants.

Since closing its original San Pedro location and operating out of its temporary venue, “The Landing,” also located at the West Harbor development at 6th Street and Harbor Blvd in San Pedro since May 2023, San Pedro Fish Market has been eagerly awaiting the chance to bring its legacy back to a permanent home, allowing the restaurant to reestablish its roots while evolving into a dynamic destination that blends tradition innovation.

“We are thrilled that the iconic San Pedro Fish Market will be a vital part of the West Harbor experience,” Eric Johnson, Senior Project Executive at West Harbor, said in a press release. “The restaurant is a fitting addition to our unique collection of best-in-class, Southern California independent restaurant operators, not just because of its unmatched approach to seafood that has earned it a fiercely loyal following over the decades, but also because it exemplifies both the spirit of the San Pedro community and the exciting evolution of the LA Waterfront into a regional destination.”

As plans unfold, the development timeline is set for approximately two to three years. “We are grateful for the collaboration with our partners at West Harbor, and their support has been crucial in realizing our vision for this exciting new location,” added Ungaro.

San Pedro Fish Market’s new location in West Harbor is expected to take two to three years to construct. In addition to the exciting developments at West Harbor, San Pedro Fish Market is expanding its footprint with a new 17,000-square-foot restaurant at Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf, set to open in 2026. This new venture will bring the market’s signature seafood offerings to the picturesque Monterey coastline, further strengthening the brand’s commitment to expanding its legacy throughout California.

“Monterey is the ideal location for San Pedro Fish Market. Both locals and the millions of visitors to Old Fisherman’s Wharf will be thrilled to experience its unique concept on this historic and vibrant waterfront. We are confident that San Pedro Fish Market will be a fantastic addition to the area, enhancing the diverse offerings of our beloved Wharf,” Mayor Tyller Williamson, City of Monterey, said in a press release.

San Pedro Fish Market continues to welcome guests at three convenient locations: The Landing at 760 S Harbor Blvd, San Pedro, CA 90731 (within West Harbor), their Long Beach location at 6550 E Marina Dr, Long Beach, CA 90803, and their Wilmington location at 120 W G St, Wilmington, CA 90744. At each location, guests can enjoy the full San Pedro Fish Market experience, indulging in fresh seafood favorites in vibrant, family-friendly settings that have made San Pedro Fish Market a cherished culinary destination since 1956.
