Coral Del Mar, a Modern Coastal restaurant and bar emphasizing Baja, Hawaiian, and Southeast Asian flavors, is preparing to debut in Del Mar at 1247 Camino Del Mar.

The new restaurant is the latest from hospitality professionals Amanda Devine and Gio Morelli, according to SanDiegoVille. Devine confirms with What Now San Diego that this concept will open in mid-April, although an exact opening date has yet to be revealed. Yelp mentions that this restaurant will open on April 11. When it does, customers can expect outdoor and covered dining and a full bar. Coral Del Mar will move into the former home of Zel’s Del Mar, which has sat in that space since 2010.

“We are thrilled to be taking over such an iconic space in Del Mar,” Devine tells SanDiegoVille. “Greg and Jen (the former owners of Zel’s) have played a huge role in this community for the past 15 years, and we hope to carry on that same feeling in our new concept. Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels comfortable. We’re incorporating design elements inspired by our favorite places while paying homage to Del Mar, where I grew up and have strong ties to the community.”

The details of this transition remain somewhat unclear, but customers can anticipate a brighter, coastal aesthetic while maintaining the inviting atmosphere that made Zel’s a neighborhood favorite. The restaurant will feature a fusion of Baja, Hawaiian, and Southeast Asian flavors. Although specific menu items have not yet been revealed, it won’t be long before Del Mar welcomes a new dining spot that combines global influences with a warm, community-focused environment.
