One of DC’s top restaurateurs has big plans and a new vision for Chinatown. Kevin Tien, the James Beard acknowledged chef behind Moon Rabbit, is opening an Asian market, complete with a tasting room and a food stall, reports local media outlet Axios D.C.

While Tien has determined a location for his as-of-yet unnamed project, he is not sharing it yet. An opening timeline is not currently available, and Tien is still awaiting confirmation on possible city grants before finalizing aspects of the concept.

In addition to aisles full of Asian goods and treats, the establishment will also contain a bakery and cafe overseen by Susan Bae. The pastry chef has also earned James Beard recognition and has a strong history with Tien, serving as Moon Rabbit’s pastry chef.

Tien is passionate about enriching the Chinatown area, and states that “We’re looking at how we can contribute to the community, and how we can build something that will be there for a long time.”
