Laika Cheesescakes and Espresso, a San Antonio-based cheesecake shop owned by Ukranian immigrants, will be opening a second location inside the Unicorn Retail Center in New Braunfels this spring. The new location will be at 1430 Unicorn Ave.

When co-owner Viktor Krizma opened up shop in 2020, he said he had not expected the reception to be so strong. Now, the restaurant is excited to open up a larger storefront with more capacity than the original.

“We didn’t expect to be so busy,” Krizma says. “Now, we’re excited to get the product in front of a new group of people.”

Last spring, hundreds of locals showed up at Laika’s to buy cheesecakes and give donations to support Ukraine, My San Antonio reported.

The cheesecake specialty shop serves a wide variety of flavors, from the traditional to the more complex. Krizma says he plans on continually adding to its flavor menu as they expand.

With a philosophy of having sweet treats available at “any time,” Krizma says the new location will strive to have similar hours as the original – from 10a.m.-9p.m. daily.
