Barrio Dogg, a popular California-based hot dog restaurant, is coming to San Antonio this summer with their first-ever out-of-state expansion. The new location will be at 620 South Presa in Southtown, and serve their classic hot dog menu with new additions.
“We use the hot dog as a vehicle to take you on an experience, a memory, a place that you’ve visited,” says owner Pablo Rios. “It’s not just a restaurant.”
The San Diego-based comapny started as a food cart in 2017, and went brick and mortar for the first time in 2018. With a full craft kitchen, Barrio Dogg puts gourmet ingredients onto house-baked fresh bread to deliver comfort food to the community.
The original cart, built out of a part of a red ’64 Impala, pays homage to the lowrider scene in San Deigo, with the restaurant serving as a front for a gallery dedicated to lowrider art.
Despite this being the restaurant’s first ever expansion, Rios says San Antonio has always been on his destination list for Barrio Dogg.
“It’s a place I’ve grown to love and visit a lot for its lowrider scene,” Rios says. “With the car shows and custom builders, we felt that our brand would really fit with the scene.”
Congratulation,s!!!!
